It has been brought to my attention that people asking for help have not giving enough information. When you post a thread asking for help it important to provide all the information you can to enable people to better help you. So here are some guidelines when post a 'need help' thread. 1. Look around the section. If someone post a problem similar to yours a few threads down check that out first to see if it helped you at all. 2. Check out the other stickied threads to see if your questions can be answered there. The all-in-one guide and tutorial thread! (read before posting!) 3. Give all the information you can. Here is what your post should look like with as much of this information as you know filled in. Computer problem Motherboard: CPU+OC, if any: Ram+OC, if any: Video Card: Hard Drive(s): Optical Drive(s): PSU: Any additional hardware: OS: Describe Problem: Other Gadget Problems Type: Brand/ Model: Any known specs.: Describe Problem: You can get the info listed above with help from the instructions here: How To Determine Your Computer Specifications 4. When describing your problem go into as much detail as you can. Do just say 'It's broken." Go on and describe what you were doing, and what exactly happened. If you follow these guidelines it will make it easier for everyone to help you.

I'm sure it's a stupid question, but I'll ask anyways. If people do not know their specs, how can they look those up if they don't have easy access to the owner's manual?

If you go into control panel and click on the system icon you can find most of the info there.

Also, for a bit more info that's easier to read and more in depth you can also download and install Everest Home Edition. It's small in size, 3.98 Mb, and it's freeware. Pretty useful to non techies. Alternative download link: majorgeeks.com
