Semifinal Match 1. Italy vs Germany

Two old world cup powerhouses... The much hated Italy and the strong and rampant Home Team Germany.
Last time the world up was held in Germany was in 1974 and that year Germany did go all the way and win the title.

Last time germany won the world cup was as West Germany in 1990.
They beat Argentina 1-0 via a penalty in normal Time. in that same world cup Italy was knocked out in the Semifinal by Argentina.

Last Time Italy won a world cup was in the 1982 cup when they defeated West Germany in the Final 3-1... Paolo Rossi scoring a hattrick. ((interesting note Italian striker Gilardino was born on the that same day that Italy beat Germany in the finals ))

Germany progression so far :-
Vs Costa Rica - Ger 4-2 CR
Vs Poland - Ger 1-0 Pol
Vs Ecuador - Ger 3-0 Ecu
Progress as group leaders with 3 wins.

2nd Round
Vs Sweden - Ger 2-0 Swe.

QuarterFinals
Vs Argentina - Ger 1-1 Arg Germany won in a penalty shootout 4-2.

Italy Progression so far :-
Vs Ghana - Ita 2-0 Gha
Vs Usa - Ita 1-1 USA. ((own goal scored by Zacardo (ita) ))
Vs Chezh Republic - Ita 2-0 CR

Italy progressed top of thier group with 2wins and 1 draw.

2nd Round.
Vs Australia- ITA 1-0 Aus ( Questionable penalty in the last min of play awarded to Italy that sperated the two team. Although for the whole second half italy was down to 10 man and Aus never took advantage of the situation)

Quarterfinal.
Vs Ukraine - Ita 3-0 Ukr

So far Germany has won all thier matches and allowed 3 goals in while scoring 11.

Italy has drawn 1 match against the US and won all others... scoring 9 goals and letting in 1 which was an Own goal scored by Zarcado....

Many ppl are against Italy because of the penalty win over Australia but Australia never took advantage of the man difference and paid for it in the end...

Germany had look strong for the whole tournament except for the last match against Argentina... which Coach Klinsmann subsitutes paid off and getting the tie for Germany... while Argentina coach had removed his strike force from the game when Argentina was leading late on...

Italy on the other hand has had a soft pathway to the Semis... only team of class they came up against is Czech Rep... which they did away with easily....

All in all i am an Italy fan... and will back them. But i know this match against the much Fancied Germans will be tough... i am hoping Italy does like France and show the favourites the door out...

I'm hoping for germany, because seeing a France-Germany final would be quite something.
Aside from the fact that it would be a bloodbath, it would also be an exciting match to watch.

Italy will be a toughie for germany, because if u look at the records, italy has not let in a goal this year (aside from the one with the US but that was bullshit, imo italy really let their guard down cuz it was the US). Germany on the other hand has taken some goals from good teams, and relies on wining by having a larger # of goals.
It will be interesting to see how the two teams deal with one another's seemingly completely opposite tactics.

I can't choose between italy and germany,but Iwould agree to Ger vs Fra. I remember atching the FRA vs BRA match juss saturday.My cousin who is from brazil was shocked as the other brazil fans. I was happy for the european teams.
