Growing up in America, I can remember watching Disney classics and only describe that experience as magical. It may have been because of my youth, but that feeling of enchantment was lost until I began watching anime. Macross Plus brought back that mystic sensation. Compelling romance, rivalry, and an outstanding musical score drives this OVA, in my opinion, as a visionary standard for the future.

Ive got this on DVD but have never gotten round to watching it... is it actually any good? anyone got any opinions on it?

Man are you serious?! You got this on dvd and haven't watched it yet. GO WATCH IT NOW! This is a classic which I've rewachted to many times to even sum it up. Awesome characters, awesome story, more awesome dog fights and mecha action and good music. What else do you want.

I really liked this for the action and the music, really great even by today's standards. The entire first half is pretty forgettable for me though.

YF-21 is God tier in Macross Ace Frontier btw.

I really do prefer cel shades than cg for characters. Animation-wise, I can go either way.

Theme songs seem to be a lost art in anime. Voices is still the favorite Macross song iirc and deserving so. Repeated plays on my playlist inspired me to make this thread

Hehe very true. I absolutely love that song. Both instrumental and normal version. I really like the characters in this one as well. Isamu Daison>> any other Macross character (okay maybe Roy Focker is on the same league).
