| Administrator | Avira has two versions. The free version is okay for many casual Internet users. However, I would not recommend it as it provides no anti-spyware protection. It's capacity for detection is somewhat limited as well.

antivir has a 92 percent detection rate last time i checked your links. Is their a better antivirus than antivir now? also does the free version of antivir let u repair the viruses or do u need to buy it to be able to repair. I think maybe u should update your list its been a long time since 5/12 |

I will update the list, but not the FAQ... Both the AV and Firewall listings have been updated with the most recent information. I went with Avira over G DATA mainly because of the CPU hit from multiple scanning engines running at the same time. You can look G DATA's offering up for more info on that...

I have avast right now, haven't really had to change a lot, but I'll try Avira, although avast I have to say is pretty good.

Avast is one of the best of the free anti-virus programs.

I'm very content with ESET NOD32 smart security. A definite relief from the chunky Norton360 which is a resource-whore. Haven't had any malfunctions, everything is going smooth from my end.
