IMO the xbox 360 is better, I mean its $200 cheaper, better online gaming even though you do have to pay for it, the same HD capabilities except blu-ray, and I haven't seen anything about the PS3 being backwards-compatible. The only reason I would get it would be for Assassin's Creed

360 depends on emulators for backwards compatibility, so only the few (relatively) Xbox games they decide to write emulation software for will be playable on the 360.

PS3 has the original chipset from both PS1 and PS2 so its completely backwards compatible with every single Playstation game--theoretically at least. There's already been some of problems reported with BC on the PS3 for a few games. =\

Assassin's Creed is on 360, too. Sony lost its exclusivity to the title.

I think it has to go down to $350 before its worth buying, I wouldn't get one for $600 unless it was for like christmas or something.

xbox 360 generation two games are the same graphics as playstation 3genration one games......but saying this there will be a point where xbox 360 won't be able to keep up to with the graphics of the playstation 3...

I still only have two hd imputs on my tv, and one is for the satelite. So thats another reason why im not gonna get a ps3

*nodnod* Agreed. Developers might take a few years to get there, but the PS3 simply has more raw horsepower to take advantage of. Well, that's the idea at least.

It still doesnt use all of the horsepower it can, its only using 8 of the 9 cores.

it may differ for some people but we are talking about the "usual gamer talk". if you dont believe me you can check out some gaming forums, they pretty much all blabber about graphics.

P.S. even in this thread some people talk about specs and graphics first. to hell the gameplay.

I've been to game forums and graphics have never been a deciding factor for a game purchase from every post I read in those forums.

There have been many posts made at hacker and Linux communities which reveal the Playstation 3 Blu-Ray disc format has been cracked. There has been several disc dumps appearing on certain peer-to-peer networks and other pirate communities.

The discs can't currently be booted by the PlayStation 3 but it probably won't take long to crack it. The PS3 has only been released for a short amount of time so this will cause Sony troubles if they do manage to produce pirate copies of games this early on, which they probably will.

Spong is reporting that the dumps were made by installing the Linux operating system on the PS3 and then using it to copy the files.

Sony's launch lineup for the PS3 has currently been dumped by a group called Paradox, titles like Resistance: Fall of Man, MotorStorm and others are reported to have been seen.

Expect to see more news about this soon.

WOW. That didn't take them long at all. Wasn't the PS3 launched delayed because they wanted to make sure the Blu-Ray copy protection worked right? If so that would be pretty ironic... >.<

They still need to get the discs to boot. Has long as Sony has that the bootlegs won't be a problem.

When that happens the best thing Sony can do is constantly update the PS3 software like they do with the PSP's firmware.

Waaaaaait a sec... I'm not all that good with the technical side of bypassing protection so quick question: When you're running the PS3 with Linux instead of the original OS, what good would updating the software do, since you're not using it anyways? *bes confused* =\
