Development has just begun and the release of the game is more than a year away. No platforms are yet confirmed - a highly stylised animated concept trailer of Ryu and Ken fighting was shown, but no game footage.

I'll start with the basic answer that will diffuse the majority of questions here:

We've announced Street Fighter 4 to let everyone know it's in development. We aren't really providing any more information than that at this time, but over the coming months, you'll see bits and pieces come to light. Platforms especially aren't being discussed.

While many of you have pointed out, CUSA owns the rights to Street Fighter, we have contracted Capcom Japan to handle its development (we felt they would, by far, do the best job with the title).

The game is further along in development than probably most of you think, but as we've stated, it's still quite a ways off. Again, the announcement was just to get it on everyone's radar, nothing more.

Beyond that no one at Capcom will speak about characters returning, character count, platforms, features, 2D or 3D or 2.5D, whether the trailer is representative of gameplay/character design/visual targets, arcade or not, online features, downloadable strategy, where it fits in the canon, etc.

All of that will be revealed over time... the next bits will be revealed a bit later this year.

I can't wait. One of the best if not the best fighting game ever is coming back with a new episode. I really hope they have better characters this time around. SFIII 3rd strike didn't have to many interest designs. OMG I can't wait. I need pics NOW!

Hrm...I have not been excited about SF since Turbo 2 was out for SNES. Maybe I can get back into it...

But I have not liked many 2D fighters lately aside from MvC2, SNK vs Capcom 2 and a few others...

Maybe this will be awesome though.

Forget about Bison. That story already ended. They'll probably continue from SF3 story. This 3d intro is cool and all, but I want this game in 2d. I don't think capcom has the nerve to make this in 3d, since A LOT of fanboys will go crazy.
Goes to watch the trailer again. Just imagine Capcom making a Street Fighter movie like this. It'd be awesome IMO.
The aura change at the end of the trailer when Ryu shoots the fireball is just to sexy.

That would be awesome. They showed at Ryu's ending that he hasn't been fighting to his full potential yet. Oro said something about that. Oro would be a great trainer for him. It's been said that he's on the same level as Akuma. He binds his arm to handicap himself, like Kenpachi from Bleach.

agreed, the man is much faster. i wonder if ken will get new moves and stuff because after alpha 3 he seemed depowerd to me, he focused more on sean, and his son and hardly trained. he even lost to ryu (i think)

so it's 3D, even more win hopefully they would make it like tekken but keep the street fighter tyle and fast speed. ryu beat ken in that video and that sucks.
