omfg EA Mythic | Warhammer Online This game is starting to become pure win. Im still worried about the graphics, I hope they’re going to be at least as good as WoW's. But we wont know until it comes out. Im still waiting to get into beta :( The crafting system sounds cool, but boring. Ill be comparing this game to WoW the whole time since wow was one of the best games I’ve played (although they ruined it *cough cough*). But the crafting skills seem boring. Unlike WoW where you could create some awesome ass things, here everything you create seems pretty bland. Im liking the fact that you don’t have to grind to level it up. Im also kinda liking the fact that you don’t need recipes. The only thing is though, they should make recipes optional, as in drops. The reason is, with no recipes, there is practically no diversity in what you create to what your friend creates. Recipes are also fun since it great to feel the need to get a certain one and the joy when you get it. I think they are making the game overall balanced. Not class wise, but player wise. And I think it’s a mistake. What I mean is for example crafting and questing, where everything is so balanced that someone who doesn’t know squat about what his doing, a noob, can easily be on the same level of an experienced player. So far those are the things im ehh about. I was originally going to be Chosen Chaos with my cousin being a Marauder, but now with the White Lion, im probably going to go White Lion and my cousin happily switching to dwarf (his former WoW class)

Mythic has announced that they are cutting for careers. Hammerer(dwarf) Chopper(Green Skins) Knight of the blazing Sun(Empire) Black Guard(Dark Elf) Justification: Hammerer/Chopper play mechanic was dull, KotBS/BG were too under developed to be finished by release. They are also cutting out 4 of the originally planned 6 cities. (only 2 left) The populous would be too spread out a 6 cities and not enough time to finish all 6. They are also going to be punkbuster. |

About the cities, 2 sounds like a very low number, whats your take? does it make it bland? when you say cities, are there alot more then just the cities? like small towns, the jungle etc? Or is the world literally just 2 cities?

So if you are set on either of the play mechanics then you have those to play. The hammerer and chopper were the same play mechanic(which they couldn't get to work) so you lose out there, but as no one knew what the mechanic was I doubt it was much of a loss... the problem with these is people who wanted to play race centered guilds lose out. As 4 of the races have lost 1 of the archetypes. The most effected by this is DE and Empire as they lose a tank and their healer is worst at healing(melee healers). - It seem like a low number because of the way they previously set up the maps. Each racial pairing you drive through tiers (1-4) and on the 4th tier you had 5 battlefields. 1 captial city at each end followed by faction centered battlefield, and then finally at contested battle field. Now you have Empire with the preceding, but HEvDE DvGS having only the faction centered and context battle field. So the main problem is that the flow is broken up, we don't really know what they are going to do to fix this, but the world map as it stands seems counter intuitive for what is going on. For example, you can take both the dwarf and HE battle grounds and attack empire capital... even though empire could still have its faction battle ground. (just logically it doesn't make sense, as you are sieging a city by taking ground half a world away. --- So far the cities themselves are very impressive and there is lots of stuff to do there. As well as being large and a center of things, they also have instanced dungeons that you can fight in. The fact that they grow as people complete quest in them is very cool. I am not too concern about the amount of content in them, as I doubt people will get bored of them before they finish the other cities. Once again, I am keeping vague because of the NDA.

The cutting classes might upset the people that were going to play them but that is about it. They can always patch in more classes and cities later. How does this PC sound for warhammer? As it was, they had too many classes that fitted duplicate purposes.... and I have no doubt that they will add the classes back in sooner or later, once they tweak them to be more unique. The Blackguard should never have been there in the first place, given that they march out ONLY on the direct order of the Witch King, and wouldn't be running around on their own....

oh wow, I'm pretty mad that they are going to make a mac version way after they release a PC version. That's pretty lame seeing as how I wanted to play this game. Cutting 4 cities does ease that wanting to play though.

Read up on why the cut the cities and what they did instead and you realize that they didn't loose that much.... the beta players agreed that it actually made the game better. and I was wrong, open beta starts on the 18th. You can get the client now, however, through their beta center, and its a 9.33GB file on a TORRENT download, no direct download from their website.... so start downloading now, its gonna take you about 2 days to get the full file...... Oh, and I got into the closed beta at some point, but my email apparently BLOCKED the email telling me that I did... bastards......

I really enjoy the game, I think it is really fun and much better than WoW. The first thing to realize about the game is that it is a war. The order and destruction sides are in constant conflict from the very beginning of the game. Which means not only are you playing with people throughout the whole game but against them, and in direct conflict. There are many way in which you are conflict. There is direct open world RvR, this is going into "RvR areas"(you are open to attack from opposing faction). In this area you take battle field objectives, keeps throughout 4 tiers then finally in the opposing enemies city itself. This can range from pvp, gvg(small groups , and large(24)), Zerg, keep(assault and defense)Keeps and battlefield objectives also have pve elements to them as you have npcs guarding them. Next, you have scenario, these are set matches between even number teams of players from each side with a specific objective. (capture location, murder ball, relay) *this is my favorite You can join them from any location in the game, you just add yourself to the queue for the next match and when a new game starts you are in it. They are generally 15min long and have 12 player(though this number increase as you go higher in the tiers) Next, you can compete of shared public quests. So this might be a bit confusing. A public quest is a large quest that anyone who enters a certain area automatically joins. (if you leave the quest area you leave the quest, you are not required to participate) A shared public quest is when both order and destruction share the same area, but both have two different objectives. This is in a pve area so you are not automatically flagged for pvp. For example, the a dwarf vs greenskin pq, involves order killing 100 greenskins(npc) in an area before destruction can kill 100 dwarfts(npc). The first one that complete this goes onto the next stage. You can at any time flag yourself for pvp and fight anyone else who is also flagged for pvp. So in this area you fight for quest objectives while fighting the opposing faction. Next, At anytime you can flag yourself for pvp and fight anyone else flagged for pvp anywhere in the world. If you don't like the idea of fighting in a big war, I would not recommend it. ---- I have had a great time with almost every careers I played. My favorites are Shadow Warrior, Rune Priest, Swordmaster, and Warrior Priest. *So I will be playing order. The difficulty for me is not finding a class I like but instead choosing between the ones that I like. ---- Quest are imaginative and fun. For example, at the begining of the Orc quest area you are told to go and investigate barrels that keep falling from the dwarf walls(which are very high) and then moving around. When you break them open you find naked dwarfs inside(which you kill). You then get lauched up onto top of these walls where you find a weird goblin who give you the quest of knocking out a dwarf, stripping him naked, stuffing him in a barrel and pushing him over the side.... Some are the usually (kill x number of guys) but all so far have had good warhammer style about them. ---- (I will get example soon) graphics, are in my opinion hit or miss. (still in dev so have to wait and see) Some area are just beautifully done, where everything comes together and looks great. But there are some that just look bad. For example the opening orc zone has the kind of dirt ground, and random piles of dirt which just look poorly done. Where as in the empire opening zone you are in a forest that area that looks amazing. All of the character models are really well done, and the lighting on armor is great. The different varieties of armor are also good, and progression looks good. --- more to come. cool fan made trailer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzlIWLQXYZY&fmt=18 |

Actually, the orc side looks like it is supposed to... every bit of fluff about an orc camp basically sits true with what they show. Also, every single class has a play style unique from every other class. Completely unique mechanics. It means that you aren't playing the same person every time you change races but keep the same class, like WoW does it....

High Elves have 2.5 melee classes Swordmaster, White Lion, shadow warrior. Swordmaster works on the principle of stances. There are 3 stances, Normal, balanced and perfect. You can use any normal stance ability at any time(using this stance will put you into balanced stance) You can only use balanced abilities when you are in balanced stance, using a balanced stance ability will put you into perfect stance. You can only perfect abilities when you are in perfect stance, using a perfect stance ability will put you into normal stance. So you can go N->B->P->N Or you can mix it up depending on the situation. There are also tactics(passive abilities) that allow you to go straight to perfect stance under certain condition(if you parry an attack) The Swormaster is a light armor tank(heavy armor mdps). The three mastery paths focus on Great sword(damage), Shield(defense), or magic defense/attack. The great sword helps with overall damage increase, the shield overall defense, the magic defense/attack give you more ability that focus on killing casters(high resistance, interrupts) White lions Mdps pet class, The masteries allow you to focus on high defense for yourself pet with assist, high defense for your pet and situational attacks for yourself, or just equal split. Didn’t play this class past 6 so I cannot tell you how it plays in later levels. But the pet is effective in lower levels as a distraction; it helps with added damage and can come in handy keeping multiple enemies off you. It is a really bonus when dealing with multiple enemies and therefore is good utility in pqs. Shadow warrior, has an assault stance, which is melee focused. If you want to kill casters I would suggest this path, it is very difficult to play as you don’t have the break crowd control options of the other melee classes but you have a bunch of interrupts and people are not expecting you. (they think your are range) If they turn and run from you they die. You also lose effectiveness in range, it and it very difficult to hang with the other melee, put well worth and alt. Running from a shadow warrior means death. (You have snares you can perform on the run as well as regular attacks) Dark Elves have 2 melee classes You have Witch Elf, This is basically you rouge style mdps. Low armor(metal bikini) but high attack. (also to identify each class you get a small icon. This is the WE… They have stealth which makes them invisible for a short period of time and trains ap(action points, these allow you do abilities like mana) Witch elf with which hunter have the highest attack in the game. The WE works on a two systems, the first is Bloodlust, certain attacks raise your bloodlust other attack use your bloodlust to do powerful attacks. The total amount of bloodlust is 5. So at 1 bloodlust an attack does 50 extra damage, at 2 it does 110 extra damage, etc. The other component is poisons, these are added effects that you apply to yourself that affect you for a short amount of time(helps with burst) Also you have abilities which you can only do coming out of stealth, these give you an added bonus of damage. The mastery paths are to increase you attack overall, increase the effectiveness of the bloodlust abilities(ones that use up bloodlust), and one that focus in the abilities that do damage coming out of stealth. Disciple of Khaine, Is a melee healer, You have the highest attack and defense of all the healers, but you also have the lowest healing. The three main focuses are standard healing, standard damage, and steal life. This classes mechanic is based on soul essence. It is a second type of mana pool(other than action points) that allows you do perform healing abilities. To keep this soul essence up you must use melee attack which increase it. So it is a balance between healing(which uses soul essence) and attacks which(use action points and give you soul essence) These guys are the king of soloing, you have decent attack and with you ability to heal and steal life you can keep yourself alive for a very long time. The bane of this class is range, as you cannot build up soul essence without melee it is difficult to keep healed, at low levels these guys are almost unstoppable and they get their heals early on before everyone else gets there high damage.
