WASHINGTON - Former Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards on Friday admitted to an extramarital affair while his wife was battling cancer. He denied fathering the woman's daughter.

Privacy is no longer an option if you're going to be in the public eye. Seems inevitable that private matters like this is going to attract attention. People are nosey, it is what it is :/

News? Privacy? I chortled. While I think it is shitty this is pretty common. Politicians are among the lowest scum in the human history but they just happen to be in the highest places. At least they chose to air this nasty pieces of laundry after his bid for prez was over.

Woah I saw this was like no way. Wow. I don't know, cheating is just low. I guess it happens but it turns me off. And to make it worse, she has cancer. I understand its hard on people, but wow. She's dieing, this is the last thing she needs. And wow. Then the lady is pregnant, what if it is his child?

I think when the situation is like that it's more than likely to happen. But if I'm thinking to be the one cheated on. That's the worse time to find out about it. Just when I'd need to know people and specially the one I'd love, loves me. To get strenght to fight the cancer. Worst timing

No I mean, since he is in politics, people will be watching his every move. If you pick your nose, it will be known. I'm saying since you are famous, you will be scrutinized. And cheating then possibly fathering a child outside of your marriage, while your wife is dieing, is bound to be discovered.

Yeh agreed. Getting cheated on already sucks, but when you are sick, it hurts even more. Thats the time where the people you love are supposed to care for you the most. I feel really sorry for his wife

well, yeah, I get that you can feel sorry for his wife, but I mean come on. It's not like it's something that doesn't happen pretty much every day. It's bad enough that the guy had to admit to having an affair, but then to have it being exploited through the media is pretty harsh imo.

Sure maybe what he did was wrong, but good lord, he shouldn't have to suffer something like that.

I agree, I feel bad for the media uproar that is about to happen, but still, what did he expect? Now only that, when the rumors were flying, he gave these speeches about honesty and love and whatnot. Don't get me wrong, I know everyone is a hypocrite, not just politicians, but it just sucks, for lack of the better words. It sucks that a great politician, leader, and person did something so retarded like this.

I dont feel that bad for him, considering his line of work. If he wanted privacy he should have stayed a lawyer. Being in politics your constantly scrutinized all the time. Its a bit sad and this stupid case of his infidelity, well he asked for it. I feel bad for the wife though. Having cancer and finding out your hubby cheated on you and having the double blow of having that in the media, that truly sucks.

Edwards always campaigned trying to appeal to the middle man. I think him having an affair pretty much reinforces that he really is just like us.

My sympathy for his wife though.

Political figures dont have a private life, thats actually a oxymoron for politicians. I actually pity them to an extent, in general they are made out to be kniving opurtunists and less than human, but one foul up and not only is it front page news, but they are all of a sudden the antichrist(depending on what is being printed). I dont really know the situation with him and his wife, so i wont judge him.

Do you even know john edwards outside of his political career?
This isnt like george bush where you can easily critiscize someone like that, this is a man who outside of his profession which hardly got back up after 04....you have never met.
People make mistakes, and the only reason you even give a damn about it is becuase he is in the public eye.

If this was some guy who you just heard about, would you honestly care enough to even talk about it like this?

This is exactly my point, politicians are fucking put on a hot plate and eaten alive. Sure they chose this life, but this is true for all people of fame, and being well known.

Average run of the mill people dont recieve such notoriety...thus situations like this generally go unnoticed.
The man is human, he is fallible and he has proven that.

Attack public figures that actually have it coming, not men who cheat on their wives.
