Most of this has too do with two things of more importance then Russias "concern" for its people, to my knowledge Russia could give a rats ass about its people. They dont like the resources that are going through that region that they are not getting a cut of. Second they want to block and destabalize countries trying to join NATO or otherwise escape Russians forced dependence and influence. This has more to do with that then anything else. It was a Georgian problem, not a Russian problem. So why Has Russia gotten invloved in it three times now, once for that Abajh? region, Twice involving Osetia now. And for the same reason, every time they try to send in their troops to police their lands Russia invades? I mean WTF is that about. And most of the situations were fine and nothing really majorly bad was happening until Russia got involved.

I dunno I guess part of the reason is Russia's location and history. I mean its hard for US to relate because look at us...we are between Canada and Mexico....two relatively peaceful nations. We didn't have any armed conflicts for a couple of generations now, this isn't really the case with Russia. What I don't understand is why is the US adding fuel to the fire? Like...uh wtf? This isn't really good for any president, 2nd term or not

There is a cease fire. Russia is also setting up a DMZ around South Ossetia. They're also blocking the main East-West highway in Georgia to accomplish this. Their justification is that it will deescalate violence.

In Soviet Russia, ceasefire only applies to you! But given that Russia was so close to the Georgian capital, I don't think they are advancing any farther than they already were, or they would have already captured the capital city......

actually georgains joined russian empire before the communist , by all means im not an expert on the russian or georgian history but from what i know georgians willingly joined under protectorate of russian empire to keep themselves safe from Ottomans . Reason russia is trying to influence surrounding countries is to weaken US influence and for the sake of its own interests , same way as EU was formed to weak Russian and American influence over the Europe , both are are good things in my opinion . lol so you are saying its perfectly alright to let your supporters to be bombed and slaughtered by near by state ? Or if a country is trying to deffend its interests it suddenly becomes evil ? p.s. look georgians are obviously are the ones who are picking fight , well their leaders to be correct .. georgians are rather missilery under their new "democratic'' president whom no one likes due to things like assassination of completion and hardcore abuse of protesters . Basically what he is doing right now is trying to take attention off himself and focus it on the war . But good equivalent of his actions is poking a sleeping bear in a rear with a hot fire poker , nothing good will happen to you in other words . from what i'm hearing we're sending people into georgia for humanitarian purposes; helping victims by giving antibitoics and such. also, russians are heading towards the capital as we speak.

I LOLd at the Russian troops being drunk when a U.S. press member approached them. There is always truth to stereotypes they say. ![]() georgia could win this by bribing them in better vodka. Quote:

This ceasefire is about as brittle as peanut brittle.

Such an escalation. This turned to something bigger than the needs of Georgia or South Ossetia now. Russia still has troops in Georgia despite the cease fire agreement. This is getting more interesting!

Oh my this entire thing sure is escalating frighteningly fast. This isn't looking very good at all, not only is Russia continuing its assault on Georgia from the looks of it ignoring a ceasefire but they are also threatening Poland. Forget about North Korea and Iran, we got Russia now to deal with that do have nukes and aren't scared to use them. So I guess all should be sitting on the edge of our seats and praying real hard to not have a World War 3, because nobody is going to win |
