You didn't really read the article. The U.S. isn't placing nukes in Poland, it's placing anti-ballistic missles. Big, big difference.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Monday the United States and its allies will not allow Russia to gain a strategic victory in Georgia . She also warned Russia that it is playing a "very dangerous game" by resuming Cold War-era strategic bomber patrols off the Alaskan coast. Rice was en route to an emergency meeting of NATO on the Georgia crisis.

Cold War 2 seems to be creeping upon us. France and Germany, as usual, are weak, Britain is absent, former Soviet satellites (Ukraine, Poland, Czech, and Georgia) are aligning together against Russia, and I'm sure the U.S. will unfortunately find some way to get in the thick of it.

I've lost all hope for Russia to be moving anywhere for a looong time. I think they intent to stay there.

The good news is that the international community are trying to bring Georgia closer to NATO. That may not make this all go away, but atleast it may show a little light at the end of the tunnel for the georgians. Show that are not and will not be forgotten.

uh-huh georgians are retarded ( no one in their right state of mind would pick a fight like they did ) and the country is in extreme state of corruption/poverty (believe me i've been there it sucked ) , only reason west is giving a damn about that country is becouse of the oil .

^Not quite true the oil pipline has been shutdown for some time before this whole Russia crap started.
So far all of the ceasefires has fallen through and Russia shows no signs of getting out of Georgia.

So any country with high levels of poverty and corruption deserve to be pummeled?

I think it's retarded to call all georgians retarded.. Those areas aren't russian soil and it should not concern them what is happening there. IMO this conflict is to be solely blamed on Russia.

yeah , world would be much better off without that country, corruption must be killed when ever it is found to stop it from spreading . i think russian leaders could lose some heads too . And in my totally humble opinion its retarded to always blame russia for everything , georgians were picking that fight for a long time . And technically it WAS a russian soil when they willingly annexed their independence to join russian empire awhile a ago . Regardless if its their soil or not , its next to their border so it is important for them .

You do realize your basically condoning the overthrowing of a elected government which the people voted into office.
Corrupted exists in every government elected or not, going up your logic it would be ok for Russia to attack the United States or any other country just because corrupted exists in the government.

actually people in georgia REALLY DON'T LIKE THEIR GOVERNMENT, and its more like in state of tyranny rather then happily elected . Last time there was a protest against their benevolent leader , crowd got beaten by police and whole capital was on a lock down . protests were sparked by accusations and evidence over dear president assassinating whole bunch of people and doing all kinds of other dirty things (accuser got jailed , and probably killed by now) . So yeah their leader is not just corrupt he is SUPPER CORRUPT, kim jugs ill's third cousin .

most of areas that are occupied by russian troops are in the mountains , so only thing that the tanks are damaging are roads , dirt roads and rocks :p
