But any ways , travelling alone does sound afully dull elk . You should always travel in party with a priest in cause some one gets injured ..... or is it a D&D thing ?
My though is that i doesn't seem to epic to travel around by car , i mean is it more adventurous to venture into the wilds on your on feet . Slay giant rats and battle forces of homeless for change ..... never mind last part D&D again .
If ever planning to go to middle east remember the following :
Air conditioner and bottled water are your best friends during summer
Winter can get bellow 0 close to Saudi , it also can rain hard for a week during winter .
and unless your a muslim you can't go to Mecca

So, I'm driving through Saskatchewan. I look behind me, there is a cop. I figure I better get out of the way, his lights are flashing, he's probably in a hurry. So I pull off to the side and slow down. HE pulls off to the side as well. OH. Ok, so I stop, park, roll down my window and turn off the ignition.

"Good day"
"Good afternoon officer."
"License and registration."
I hand them over, "This what you're looking for?"
"Yep, that's about right."
"Where you headed."
"Home, Thunder Bay."
"Where you comin from?"
"Fort Macleod."
"Where's that?"
"Just south of Calgary"
"What are you doin there?"
"Visiting my uncle."
"How long you been there?"
"Well I left Thunder Bay on the 10th"
He goes back to his car for a couple of minutes. Comes back to the window.
"The reason I pulled you over is because you were driving noticably slower than the rest of traffic."
"Yeah, I had the cruise control set to 100 instead of 110, it saves 15-20% on gas."
"Oh, I believe it, a lot of people are doin 95, 100 these days, most still go 115-120 though. One minute."
He goes back to the car again for about 4 -5 minutes, comes back.
"Ok, well sorry for taking your time there. I hate this stretch of highway, be careful pulling out, the people coming over the hill won't see you until it'd be too late"
"Ok, thanks."

The limit in Sask. is 110. I was doing 10km under the limit. Perfectly legal, saves me money, and I get pulled over, as opposed to the people who do 10km OVER the limit, taking for granted that is IS illegal...
Wasting MY time on a random stab. Fuckin pigs pull over people for any reason under the sun, just to see if they can find anything, good reason or not. Its almost, if not, harassment

Fucking pigs.

Good thing he didn't see me 5 minutes ago when I was rocking out to guitar wolf, probably would have given me a ticket for reckless driving regardless of the fact I had perfect control of the vehicle.

Other than that, my trip home was pretty uneventful, my payback came in Ontario, where the highway limit is 90 (pussy province...) I drove the speed limit, keeping the pigs behind me for a good 10 or so minutes, and a trail of other people too scared to pass with a cop right there, until the cop couldn't stand following the law any longer, passed me, and tore off, doing at LEAST 110.

I wish I could have as well, unfortunately we don't live in a world where cops uphold the law perfectly, and don't let their personal feelings interfere with that. I'd rather not prove myself right by being held for a day or two for speaking my mind.

Seriously, what goes through a person's mind when they say stupid shit like that? I have this thing called a brain which allows me to decide whether or not it would be a good idea to do something. Speaking my mind about some stupid pig pulling people over in an attempt to find something without cause isn't worth the trouble it would create.

You gotta choose your battles.

I got pulled over yesterday for the first time in my life.

It was dark, I had hiked all day up north and was finishing a 3 hour drive home. I saw the cop trying to pull out in front of me and tried to brake, but noticed him too late, so I all I did was slow down and not let him go. He pulled out behind me, and shut his lights off figuring he'd trick me. I drove slow because I didn't want to get a speeding ticket for going 2-3mph faster than the speed limit. So I went 40 in a 50 and got pulled over, right before the cops juristiction ends. My dad told me that the cops in that town were nuts and pulled over a lot of people. So before I could get away, that's what he did. He asked me if i was diabetic because I was going slow. I told him no. He left.

Sometimes it happens.

He apologized because his random pullover didn't have any result. That's what they do. Just like I said "Good afternoon officer" when I meant, "fucking pigs"

The fact that he apologized doesn't erase the fact he is a fucking pig who randomly pulls people over to see if he can find anything. I could see if I was driving maybe 20 under the limit, or if I wasn't keeping the vehicle steady, or if he caught me rocking out to guitar wolf. But I wasn't, and he didn't.

It would be like if I walked up to a couple, punched the man in his face, than apologized, saying he looked like he might have been a woman beater. The apology doesn't change the fact he made no motion that would make it look like he beats his girlfriend/wife. Now if I saw him make a threatening movement and she flinched away in fear, that would be evidence, it might not justify my butting in and sucker punching him in the face, but at least my interruption would be based on something.

Doing 100 in a 110 (this is km mind you, not miles for the Americans.) is not a reason to pull someone over. Now doing 120 in a 110, which many if not most were doing, IS a reason to pull someone over. Which he did not.

The needle that sticks out always gets hammered...

Weird reason for pulling you over.. Though he had a bit of a point. It is often even more dangerous driving slower than others. Even if they are speeding.

Wise choice keeping your mouth shut. There is no point in messing with the law.

It wasn’t random, you were driving slowly, which is dangerous if everyone else is going the speed limit. In fact some places have minimum speed limits as they have maximum speed limits. Also it can indicate the there is a problem either the person needs help or they are doing something illegal (driving drunk)

It is his job to look of for the safety of other drivers on the road. Once again this wasn’t random, the fact that he apologized for taking up your time shows that he is sorry that he inconvenienced you.

This is a pathetic straw man.

It would be like a couple arguing loudly in a bar, the bar tender coming up and asking if everything was ok. When both said “yes”, he apologizes and goes away.

The cop didn’t hit you, nor did he do it based on something arbitrary like looks.

Not really, most places have the “flow of traffic” law. Where the cops supposed to let people go if they are going with the flow of traffic, because in the end speed limits are to make things safe.

It is using common sense instead of enforcing an arbitrary limit.

10 under the limit isn't significant. This is km, not miles, again. I understand you're a confrontational douchebag who has to make an argument out of everything. but the fact is I wasn't doing 80 in a 110. I was doing 100 in a 110. The cop also said its not rare to see people doing 95-100 now.

If it wasn't me it would have been someone else. Obviously you don't understand how highway patrol operates. 9/10 random stops amount to nothing. Basically, following the traditional, "throw enough shit, eventually something will stick" method, only applied to the public at large, and not a suspect. The stop was random because its not unheard of to do a little under the limit, and the amount I was doing wasn't enough to pose a safety risk. Maybe you don't understand the difference between 100 and 110 km/hour, but ts not that big. every once in awhile someone pulls up, passes me, then slowly pulls away. People aren't racing by me trying to avoid a collision, jackass.

what a coincidence. I got pulled over today for running a red light. My first time being pulled over too--I had tried to beat the yellow but I guess I ran through the red. You know what the fucking nasty pig told me? Don't do it again. That's all, no ticket no nothing.

What pissed me the hell off about you is the way you generalize. It's like you already made up your mind that all cops are fucking pigs that are on a power trip and out to get you, which is bullshit and makes you sound like a prick.

I'm prejudiced against pigs, but I DON'T let that affect MY judgment. I've met good cops, I know there ARE good cops, if they are the minority.

However, I do know how highway law enforcement works. I don't know how smart you are, it seems people here can turn their brains on and off at will, but 10km under the limit is nothing. I've explained this multiple times.

You ran a red light. Tried to beat a yellow, didn't make it. still not legal. unintentional, but not legal. I was driving well over what could be considered too slow for the highway, and was not driving over the speed limit.

GaaranGaara had it right, the nail that sticks out. It wasn't that I was driving dangerously slow, he just wanted to stop someone and I was easiest because I wasn't speeding. I wasn't bunched up in a group of people, so I was easy to pull over. Like I said 9/10 stops amount to nothing. They just stop whoever they can in hopes they'll see open alcohol, or "smell something funny". That is a FACT.

This one plainclothes cop that came by my house was pretty cool. He was looking for these kids that constantly harass the woman across the street. We talked about hockey for a minute before he had to leave. He wasn't a douchebag. He WAS a pig, but I know plenty of people who made bad choices, or have bad habits. Another cop stopped by our house looking for my brothers acquaintance who broke out of the loony bin. He physically forced his way in, and decided to look around, and because it was my mom who answered, who doesn't feel the same way I do about pigs and invasion of privacy, she let him, and my brother had his weed flushed because of it. That cop WAS a douchebag, even if my brother IS a stoner dumbass.

One factor doesn't outweigh everything else. So go be pissed off somewhere else.

Well, if your setting about a hobo trek across two countries doing things youve never done before. I highly doubt throwin back some beers or shots is the biggest atrocity. I think now would be the time to try those things. How old are you?
