Well, It's Sunday. EARLY Sunday, but Sunday no less. I'm on the eve of my hoboventure. Monday morning I'll be on the road, heading for Alberta, ehen I get my fill of USA jr. I'll be heading for Vancouver. As a traveler, I won't have much time if any to be online, so I'll be here a lot less often. I'll do my best to make appearances though, if only to piss off people like Cane. All I've got left is some packing, I got my tools, my gear, and my equipment all ready. I just have to pack some more clothing, and whatever I want to bring to keep me occupied. Books/DS mainly. If anyone wants to attempt to keep in contact, leave me a PM today, or whenever, and if I see it either before or after I leave, I'll attempt to establish dome form of contact. |

I'd say different. This is general discussion and news. I'd rather keep this thread out of that shithole.

The thread title is quite misleading. I was assuming someone of great note and worth was about to go on a journey....and then i look inside. No such person. |

I'll let this thread stay here. We had a thread of DM's travels in Japan, so ELK can have his thread on hoboing in america.

You will be missed, my friend. Enjoy your journey. May I ask what it is you wish to accomplish when you reach your destination? Or is it simply a trip for the purpose of road tripping, and enlightenment? A pilgrimage if you will. |

I've made a map for your travels. Just take the main road I've outlined and you should be fine. |

Well, my friend who I was going to travel with got bribed to stay by his family, so America is off the plate for now at least, I'm going to travel Canada first, then see if my friend changes his mind. As for traveling, it'll be a drain on my savings, I'll probably be flat broke by the time I'm finished, but I've got myself a 93 Grand Wagoneer, and a bike. I assume I'll drive to a city, find a suitable place to park, and travel by bike. As for destinations, for now I'm planning on hitting both coasts, then after that, if I get to the US, I have some friends I want to meet up with, and other than that, travel for the sake of seeing new things. |

THat was the original plan, but it'd take way too long. I'll be staying in each city for awhile, so if all my in city travel is on foot or by bike, and my diet is going to be a lot less since I'll have to buy all my food when I plan on eating it, I think I'll lose quite a bit of weight.

Hope you have fun at your journey Elk. Stay safe! Travelling is so cool, I'd like to go on a similar trip, but most likely to Middle/Southern Europe for me.

Hobos used to jump on the trains. Not happening since 9/11 though. 10 years in the Fed pen for breaking those seals on the cars. So will you go by your own car? ![]() Have fun. The Debate section will be boring without you.

Have a great one Elk, I like the hoboism, and lived by it on several ocasions myself. However travelling by car sound smore like you'll be a hotel-hopper to me =p Nevertheless I wish you a great venture. One small tip though, don't be afraid of weird people, you'll be surprised how more awesome things can be if you leap out and converse with the local abstracts. Like great conversations, free drugs, and drug-related contacts! And be carefull with money as well, eating off supermarkets can be surprisingly more nutrituous and cheap then living off McDonalds. And oh! If you visit bakeries at closing time there's often stale-bread handouts! =D |

Once I finish, I'm going to see if I can convince my friend to join me through another trip to the US. My current trip will just be Canada. The money from that'll probably come from selling my current vehicle to fix up my other vehicle (a 70 Bonneville convertible) and because of the price of a 93 Grand Wagoneer (about 5k) I'll have a few thousand to spare. I wouldn't mind seeing other continents. It's always a possibility for the future. I may be an ex-weeaboo, but I STILL want to see Japan. I just wouldn't be creepy about it. Quote:
Yep, got a Jeep SUV. Fairly decent on gas on the highway considering. I'll be sure to check in when I get access to the net. Quote:
Minus the hotel, I'll be sleeping in my Jeep. And yeah, I don't mind weird people, most people I kno |
