a/k + b = c/k => a/k - c/k = -b => (a-c)/k = -b => (a-c)/-b = k (multiply both sides by k and then divide both sides by -b) also to make it look neater.... => -(a-c)/b = k => (c-a)/b = k

Can anyone help me find a good detailed diagram of the spinal cord, and info on how the neutrons are sent? btw: anyone have a good idea on how to make a model of the nervous system, that represent how the neurons are sent thoughtout the nervous system

do you want how a spinal nerve is formed? cause i got lecture notes, or can just tell you off the top of my head on what you need edit: neuron action potentials are sent when a neuron fully depolarises. first it starts with a stimulus causing a local graded potential that slowly depolarises the membrane. If the stimulus is great enough, then the membrane reaches the thresh-hold potential and sodium channels in teh membrane open up, causing a large influx of Na+ ions. The membrane hyperpolerises, causing potassium channels to open up, leading to a outflux of K+ ions out of the cell, repolarising the cell. This process continues along the axon, until it reaches the synapse bulb, where it triggers the release of a neuro-transmitter (Acetylecholine, epinephrine/adreneline, norepinephrin) which stimulates the synapsing nerve, muscle or cell. myelinated neurons transmit action potentials faster by allowing them to "skip" parts of the axon. Gaps between the myelinated areas (nodes of raviers, i think) act as further depolarising points which speed the process along. i dont know if you needed a full detail of the physiology of an action potential so let me know |

the central nervous system, which is the brain and spinal cord and the peripheral nervous system, which consists of the autonomic (sympathetic and parasympathetic divisions) and the somatic. also the spinal cord is split into grey and white matter. grey is unmyelinated, while white is myelinated. there are total of 31 spinal nerves (i think) 8 cervical, 12 thoracic, 5 Lumbar, 4 sacral, each spinal nerve is derived from two roots the ventral (anterior) root consists of somatic motor neurons and autonomic preganglionic neurons. The dorsal root consists of sensory somatic neurons. They meet to form the spinal nerve, where they split into 3 branches. the anterior ramus of the spinal nerve, which innervate the anterior thoracic and abdominal walls and the limbs. The anterior Rami have autonomic, sensory and motor neurons. the anterior rami form the nerves form a number of interlinking exchanges to form plexuses. The brachial from C5-T1, cervical (dont know, do that next year) and the lumbo-sacral, L2-S3. The posterior (dorsal) rami innervate the posterior back skin and muscles of the trunk. They consist of the same types of neurons as the anterior root. The third branch is the meningeal branch which consists of sensory and autonomic neurons only. the meningeal nerves supply the meninges of the spinal cord and the intervertebral discs. The sympathetic neurons exit the spinal nerve at the white communicating branch, and synapse with a post ganglionic neuron in the sympathetic ganglia from the levels of T1-L2. They re-enter the spinal nerve through the grey communicating branch (unmyelinated). They then disperse into the various nerves to innervate the blood vessels, glands and errector pili muscles. To innervate the organs, the pre-ganglionic neurons dont synapse at the ganglia, they continue towards autonomic ganglia of both parasympathetic and sympathetic neurons at the organs. They synapse with Post ganglionic neurons and innervate the organs. to access the brain and head, the neurons at the higher levels of the chain (T1-T2) ascend the sympathetic chain towards the cervical ganglia. They then follow the path of the internal carotid artery into the brain. btw, the sympathetic division activates fight and flight responses. (Increase heart rate, cause vasoconstriction, increases sweating) while parasympathetic division initiates rest and digest responses (gastric responses, vasodilation and urination) that might have been overkill, but if you need some more PM me and i can send you some lecture notes | |
