Anything and everything regarding the 2008 election should go in here, instead of in a new thread. ~Tony I hit the calculator. If I give Clinton a hefty 30% margin win in Kentucky and Obama a very conservative 10% victory margin in Oregon (should be far higher) it works out like this: Clench nomination: 2026 Obama: 1958 (68 short) Clinton: 1772 (254 short) Remaining Super Delegates: 225 After the Tuesday's count Obama will only need 30% of the share of Super Delegates to win. Clinton receiving 70% will still leave her 96 delegates short of the 2026. The remaining contests after Tuesday: Montana: 16 delegates (heavily Obama favored) South Dakota: 15 delegates (heavily Obama favored) Puerto Rico: 55 delegates (heavily Clinton favored) Campaigning is already underway in San Juan in hopes to decrease Clinton's delegate gain there. Yesterday Obama referred to himself as the Democratic nominee. Clinton's camp already looking for a way to pay off their $20,000,000 in campaign debt. Obama's campaign has had talks with them in order to assist in this (exchanging money is illegal, but Obama can raise the money seperately). Primary systems of Oregon and Kentucky: Kentucky: Closed Primary. 28 day registration deadline. Party switch deadline is Dec. 31, 2007. Oregon: Closed primary. 21 day registration and switch deadline. (MAIL-IN ONLY. There are no polling places) To get quick results on Tuesday night: Kentucky's night tally website: electionresults.ky.gov - View Election Results Elections results beginning at 8pm Pacific: Oregon Secretary of State Elections Division Hopefully the closed primaries, especially in Kentucky, will put a bit of a damper on Operation Chaos. Also, Clinton is looking a bit petty though for bashing caucus states. Changing rules after a fact is also called "cheating" in any reasonable standard. His campaign worked hard for the caucus turnout. His tactic paid off. With only 30% needed after Tuesday, I have a feeling more Supers will declare their candidate.

Puerto Rico can vote? I thought they were just an "Unofficial" state. Well seems like Obama is on his way to becoming the first black president.

seriously, this is a disgrace to the democratic party, and to the U.S. govt in general. I hope future candidates learn from this

Many Puerto Ricans have residency in Florida or have a lot of family in Florida and so they vote by virtual proxy in the general election as it's unconstitutional to allow them to vote in the general election. Their say in a primary is important for the party.

I hope Obama beats McCain by a far mile because maybe the other nations will stop looking on America as a racist country and that we are not like we use to be 200 years ago.

McCain is too wishywashy. Despite Obama's short tenureship in the Senate, I can have more faith on where his policy will stand vesus McCain. McCain has never had a clear and decisive goal, he only cared about campaign ethics after he got caught, and he has lobbyists and special interests running his campaign. He also went after Obama for the possibility of talks with Iran, but 4 years ago McCain said that talks with Iran and Hamas should not be ruled out.

I heard that Bush/Military is planning several air strikes in Iran b4 November vote. Not good for Obama b/c he wants to negotiate w/o force.
