I fail to see how this is even remotely news worthy, does anybody really care that kid wants to play guitar hero for the rest of his life instead of doing something more productive, nope. Being honest though I fail to see what the kids see in that game, I don't even find it fun. Now CS and starcraft are another story. |

Wow talk about epic fail. Guitar hero is a guitar simluator, its not the real thing lord have mercy. Exactly what is he going to achieve by dedicating the majority of his time to perfecting his "Guitar simulating" skills?, other than stupid guitar hero competitions? Unless he can make a long term living on doing this(very doubtful) then this isnt an example of bad parenting, it's simply an example of unbelievable stupidity. I could understand if he was actually playing a real guitar, but not this. |

At least he's still getting school through tutoring. When I saw the title I thought the story'd be no schooling whatsoever. Now in a few years when finally gets smart on life, or just bored with the game, whichever comes first, he can find some sort of job and go on with his life.

I'm quite pleased with the hate for Guitar Hero; I always thought that game was a piece of shit. If only he had been born a generation later... |

How is this any different from an Olympic athelete who gets homeschooled so they can train 8 hours a day? There is money in the video game industry, and just being good at a game like Guitar Hero can land you a job with a major corporation. He probably plays Guitar Hero over a real guitar for several reasons: 1) He enjoys the video game more. 2) He wants to work with video games, not as a musician. 3) He's already good at the game, whereas learning to play a guitar for real is much harder, takes much longer, and quite frankly is far less rewarding (unless you're lucky enough to actually get a record deal, which is a one in a million shot). This at least also allows him mobility to transition into another video-game industry job, whereas learning to play a real guitar would help him make a few bucks on the street. |

Yeh, well I too love my video games and sitting on the computer, but quess what? I still don't stay at home like a socially retarded fucker. That's unhealthy. What I do is I go out and study Business Information Technology WITH others my age. That way I get to do and study something that I like. Comparing gamers to Olympic atheletes.... <_<

It's one thing to like playing video, games and be on the computer. I love doing the same thing. But It's totally another, when you let it become a main part of you life. I'm not saying that him playing Guitar Hero is necessarily a bad thing, but having it take over you're life is. I also don't agree with him being home schooled. That's just adding to his obvious addiction. Staying in the house all day, can be very depressing. Also, what about his social life, that's why he he should be in regular school. Think about work, what's he going to do, call his boss and say I can't come into work today, because I'm playing Guitar Hero? If I was a real parent, I wouldn't let this game take over his life, and damn sure wouldn't be making his chicken sandwiches for him. He's going to eventually turn into a house ridden slob.

Big deal. He's still getting educated at home so what's the fuss about? Professional gamer is steadily becoming a normal aspiration so if you're good at that then go ahead. Most professionals in anything have that field become their life so if the boy wants to be a pro guitar hero player then it'll have to become his life. I want to become a professional Software Developer and it already took over my life and I'm still young in the business. The parents atleast made a good decision to keep him home schooled and didn't let him quit learning outright.

I dropped out of the 6th grade. Never went back to school until I was 23. School will always be there for him. That's considering he is a good self-motivated learner that does not need instruction.
