My friend wanted me to make a wallpaper out of a sketch he did. The sketch was anime styled and I was wondering what are the steps to making it into CG. I would like the steps to be like: Step1. Blah Step2. Blah No explanation of what to do is necessary just the steps is fine. |

well, this is how i go about working on a cg. my methods vary from time to time though. i use photoshop cs2 (with a mouse) - __ - . [cg with inked lineart] 1. sketch on paper 2. ink and refine lines 3. scan the drawing 4. convert to greyscale mode. adjust contrast/lighting, levels, erase smudges etc 5. revert back to rgb mode. name the drawing layer as "drawing" and set layer mode to multiply 6. make another layer underneath the drawing layer (normal mode). this layer is used as the 'background layer' and colors are added on there. 7. another layer is added and it is above the background layer. this new layer is the 'color layer'. i have several different color layers. i make sure that they are under the drawing layer 8. if there are details that i want shown (over the lineart) then i will make a layer above the drawing. 9. add colors on the corresponding layers, smudge them (or use airbrush setting with varying opacity). [cg with digitally inked lineart] repeat step 1 and 3 above. 2. after scanning, i create another layer over the drawing layer and consider the new layer as the 'lineart layer'. 3. use pen tool to make lines [simulate pressure setting] (i have several different layers for lineart and colors - so it makes certain sections easy to clean up). repeat steps 6-9 [cg with no lines (painting like)] 1. scan image 2. screw cleaning up the sketch and just make coloring layers above the drawing layer. my method isn't prolly the best. i don't use things like 'masks' either. note: if i'm doing inked lines traditionally, then i use it an a clean comptuter paper. cleaning up notebook lines is a pain for me. If you want Vertex lines use Adobe Flash. Saving it in Jpeg later makes it crapier, but for painting after the lineart it looks nice.
