Lit Section Discusion Thread

Sorry bout my inactivity for awhile..Anyhow i'm back to breathe life into this rather dull section once more..>)...

Suggestions.

Poetry Battles, Basically run like gfx tag battles One person posts a poem then another posts one and then they wait for people to vote on it.

Poetry comps, Yes more poetry comps, I ran a couple last time and i'll run another couple again this time if you want..

All i do is select the topic select a couple of other judges and then let the public rip it up.

Archived Poems Thread, Basically every time a person posts a poem up in this section the moderator should get it and copy and paste it into an archived poems thread, Basically each user would get a single post each and any new poems they created would be added to the end of that post. The first post of the thread would be reserved for the contents page, basically a list of all the people who had created a poem in the thread and their name would be a hyperlink to their poetry post in the archived thread.

This will make looking for poems from certain people much easier and fun, also adds a bit of organisation to this place.

Get A poem Section!, Poetry is way important, We should have our own section like the roleplaying section, Or at least a link to the poetry section underneath the lit and creative section title so people know it's here.

Make me mod!, I'm bored...Make me mod of this sleepy little hamlet.

I'm not sure about the battles, but I'll ask Bara about it.

I'm all for more poetry comps, and you should contact the user LONGTIME (he's banned til Wednesday, though), because he's wanting to potentially set up a Short Story Competition.

I think I can do that archive thing.. but it could take a long time to set up. x_x' I'm not too positive on that, though, considering the sheer amount of stuff that has been posted in this section over time, that could wind up being way too.. thick.. of a thread, in terms of sheer content. Once again, I'll ask Bara what she thinks.

Poem section? I really don't see how that would be necessary.. everyone seems to do fine without one presently. =/ There's maybe 2 or 3 new things posted in here on a slow week, 10 max on a busy one.. it's not hard to keep up. Which brings me to the last thing:

No real need for another mod. As you said, it's a sleepy section. But you can ask Bara if you'd like, and see if she disagrees with me.

Uber lit,

and to go along with that of course..A lit crew to class people...Something to do.

Think he wants to set up some lit workshops for people. Like the GFX Tutorials Section, where they help out beginners. Set up some sort of elite lit crew to do this.

Doubt there is a need for it. People would just join a class for it. The suggestions and comments are enough in this section imo.

Lets just do some fun little comps. Even though I'm really itching to write I'll volunteer if you need a judge or something. Just ask me what you need I have mod powers in this section so I can help Yachi if he needs it! It just sounds like a lot of fun!

You know what gfx classes/ranks are...Now transfer that idea over to poetry classes/ranks...

Youd need a poetry crew to class a person, They put up a classification piece of poetry in a set style that would have been for posted in the classification rules by the poetry crew and then all 4-5 of the crew grade the piece and give the person a rank.

People with ranks can then open up battle threads against others asking for a particular ranked user so the less experienced poetry users can battle either weaker people or harder people to gain experience.

Considering the fact that compared to the gfx area, the lit section has a fraction of the posters, I believe at the present that would be kind of pointless.

Thats why stuff like this should be implemented, At the moment the lit section has a fraction of the posters because hardly anything is happening in here.

you create activity by giving the users something to go with and use on the forum, If you build it they will come.

We've already had several poetry comps..Of which there was a good turn out, hence the reason to keep on building up upon them...

Start the poetry battles...Then once they're going strong and well then you can introduce something like a POTW, poetry of the week...Something small like a haiku and where the forum users decide upon a winner through the old sotw voting system of a 3,2,1 vote form...

I'm more for the short story competition than the poetry one. >.>

I don't think the whole one story a week is a good idea since there is a rather small amount of people that actually would want to post their writings and you guys are probably not going to have time to upchuck a story in time. Also some peeps have difficulty going on the internet (Muskrat) and other problems (time, etc).

Poetry, though, might work in that sort of time frame.

Another thing is that it might be harder to critique such things and like in the GFX section (where you're taking the contest form from) bias eventually arises in deciding which story is 'better'.

Yeah, personally I would like to distance this section from the gfx as much as possible. If any members of this area ever started treating the area how the gfxers treat their section, I'd probably suck some admin dick just to get this area closed. Never going to allow something like that.

Yes you certainly don't want their attitude within this section, However one thing can be said about they're section and that is that it's certainly more active then this one.

This is due to the fact that the sotw which they have is small enough and easily enough for anyone to enter each week, it's on regurarly so people can enter it easily.

Something like short story contests are good for a larger thing like once every few months but you need to get something going with a schedule that happens at a set time each week so you maintain people's interest in this section.

And again, I think that you should put a link to the poetry section next to the role playing and other link in this main sections description on the front forum page and you might get a few more visitors here.
