Default Literature Section General Rules

Literature Section General Rules

These rules are here to serve as a general reminder to all of how the lit section works. You guys are for the most part mature and supportive members, so these rules will cover the more technical aspects of the section and simply state the guidelines with which we’ve all seemed to been sticking. As always, general forum rules apply.

Posting Writing
  • All chapters for one particular book should be kept in the same thread. However, you’re more than welcome to have more than one story posted at the same time.
  • If you plan on posting more than one poem at the same time, please keep them in one thread. This is to keep people from posting five poems, for example, in separate threads and covering other people’s work. You can of course start a new thread for a new poem if it’s not at the same time.
  • Anything with mature content should be placed under a spoiler tag with some sort of forewarning.
  • Plagiarism: Don't do it .
  • Nothing that is extremely graphic
    (visual/descriptive sex and gore) may be posted in this section and should be posted in the 18+ section.
  • No linking your writing to other websites. It's pretty easy to copy and past it into a thread, and doing so well encourage people to read and comment to your piece.
Commenting on Writing
  • Above all be supportive. If you don’t like a piece, that’s fine, but give reasons as to how it could be made better rather than bashing the writing.
  • Try to say more than “that’s great.” Members put a lot of work into their stories, and they post here because they want and enjoy receiving feedback that will help them grow as a writer.
  • Flaming will not be tolerated. Making fun of a person’s writing or skills is not just of bad taste, but wrong and hampers a writer’s growth, so any type of flaming will be strictly moderated.

Labeling

From now on all threads here will be required to have on of the following labels:

[P] = poem
[N] = novel
[SS] = short story
[FF] = fanfiction
[E] = Essay
[NF] = Non-Fiction
[D] = Discussion
[GA] = Group Activity

From now on please add this summery to the first post of all your pieces posted here (fan-fiction, short story, poem, ect.):

Title:
Pairing: (if fanfiction)
Word count:
Genre:
Rating: (pg, pg-13, ect.)
Spoilers: (if fanfiction)
Warning: (sexual illusions, violence, ect.)
Summary:

We will be enforcing this rule starting immediatly and it's really just another thing that'll help make the lit section more organized and better. So, please take the short amount of time to adhere to this labeling system when posting your work.
