Default New Metallica Album - Death Magnetic

I know there are several Metallica threads, but none concerning the new album, if you class this in the same category as, Metallica threads (which lol it is, no worries, close it thanks =D)

Fake? Or?

The two others are alright, as in "The New Song" and "The Other New Song" nothing epic.

But yeah, name date release is May 9th, album release is around September this year, couldn't find a better source then wiki *shame*

Personally I don't know, album needs more James growl, your thoughts?

Album needs more old Metallica if you ask me.

But that hope has long been lost.

I'll probably listen to the whole album once when it's it out, slap my forehead and wonder what the hell happened to them these last couple of years.

From what I hear now, it'll be another hump of dung to add to their money-pile.

I like this new Metallica but however this could be a bit more heavier like a major drum part or a high speed guitar sole.

I liked St. Anger. I really have high hopes for my boys from SanFran

Edit:Song is not MetallicA, sounds like a second rate Jaymz knockoff. I listen to Metallica everyday and can tell Papa Het's voice.

I stopped after the Black album..on my behalf, it's failure after failure with each album. I lost all respect for them after learning about the drum machine incident.

Actually all of metallica's albums are good, just different. The only problem I had with St. Anger was the snare being mixed to loud. The songs are much better live.

@zooted: what is the drum machine incident?

on certain tracks, Lars actually isn't using double bass, which is pure fail. instead, they use a drum machine..truly a disgrace to metal.

I can go on & on about Metallica, & how they aren't great as everyone perceives them to be, BUT they are up there with the real bands.

I can also go on & on in regards to the classic Megadeth vs. Metallica battle, I'm clearly a Megadeth fan over Metallica anyday, but by no bullshit reasons. Megadeth is by far more technical in lyrics by lightyears, & majority of technical solos & riffs can put Metallica back to the stone age. you seriously, seriously have to listen to both groups with unbiased intentions. granted, I always favor the more technical of bands, because great music always requires amazing amount of talent & effort. some may say Mustaine's voice sucks, but did you guys ever question why he sings the way he does? he usually has his teeth clinched as he sings (earlier albums) mainly because not many singers that are rhythm guitarists can do both half as well as he does. you guys have any idea how hard it is to play a technical riff, whilst singing a totally different melody over it ? next, Friedman destroys Hammett any day of the week. I can't stand Hammett's solos 90% of the time, whereas Friedman, who is so unorthodox with his meshing of various styles, incorporated with arpeggios - the dude is truly a gifted genius. anyways, I've said too much when I didn't have to. bottom line is Metallica fell off years ago, & stayed there - whereas Megadeth has stayed the underdog, & now is ultimately more successful than Metallica now. go to youtube, & check out the Mustaine & Lars interview. it's old, but it'll grant a hell of a lot of insight.

True this, however, the Rust In Peace line-up is probably one of the best line-ups ever aside from Mustaine's voice, and I agree on the Hammett/Friedman comparison, though I feel Chris Broderick shits all over both of them; Imagine if Mustaine had actually picked Jeff Loomis instead of Friedman, that could've been awesome in a different perspective.

However, I don't quite get the Megadeth is more successful then Metalllica "in recent times" comment. Metallica's sold over a 100 million albums worldwide compared to Megadeth's 20 million. And St. Anger sold 15 million records worldwide, and that was shithouse.

But I give credit to Mustaine, even though I think he's a total wanker in the way he goes about himself and freely has an opinion on other bands and members of the metal community. The man has balls, kicked out of Metallica, and then goes onto produce a band that is credited as one of the Big Four.

If you're wondering, I'm a Metallica fan, but I hardly care, even though I have views on Mustaine, the man's a talented musician.

Come onnnn!! I reckoned you'd know this vale =p

I'll explain it:

Metallica
Slayer
Megadeth
Anthrax

They are the big four, of metal. (Trash metal, also called 80's speed metal =p)

People are debating (especially Dave Mustaine) wether or not Exodus should be in there as well.

So now you know ^_^

The song played is actually an updated version of 'Death is not the end', better known as 'The New Song'. I can tell there have been some changes but that is not important.

They slowed the tempo down, you have to listen to it closely. Listen to the main riff.
