I guess itachi is really dead, my guess is tobi will use itachis body instead of the one he's using

edit: also tobi said that they met once as enemies... which means that we've had to have seen him before. Kishi isn't the one to throw in a random fight in the past only to make him a significant character

The only rational explanation is due to the fact that Sasuke is fatigued.

He needs Itachi' s body so it doesn' t fall into enemy hands. Remember that if you study the body of shinobi you can learn about their secrets (Neji mentions this during the Chuunin exam).
With the activation of one eye, Kishi may want to give a similar effect of cliffhanger on tv: the split milisecond when the second one will activate to underline the major revelations in the next chapter. It' s only a opinion don' t flame it.

what a chapter indeed, I'm not surprised it ended with only a bit of madaras face, as is kishis style. I wonder how Naruto will gain more power tho, imo he cant touch any of the top-players, nor sasuke full rested. he should get training from pein, but that wont happen.

I'm certain Tobi was talking about when he and Deidara first met up with Sasuke which is why he made that comment about Deidara soon after he said they met before

It´s very intresting that Kishi don´t say Tobi in the authors notes. If you look at the last page of the chapter you see that he say "Tobi/Uchiha Madara is ......." And also Tobis face looks pretty old. Another argument for Tobi=Madara. And if Kishi say Tobi/Uchiha Madara it´s pretty sure that Tobi is Madara. And if Madara would use Tobis body the face wouldn´t look that old because Obito is at the same age as Kakashi.

I guess because he saw what Tobi can do and also he knew that Tobi has the Sharingan. So he knew that if he face tobi again he would have a freakin strong opponnent. So if he would face Tobi again he can fight Tobi with his full power.

He activated his strongest jutsu to fight Tobi. Zetsu has some cool abilities: integrating himself with plants, earth, space manipulation and now ability to record a battle.
Off topic: Tobi put a Zetsu made Blu- ray and watch the battle while Sasuke is recuperating. Can wait to see the comics for this.

I thought the same thing trying to think of all the battles Sasuke had to attempt to guess who he was until I just read in between the lines. I couldn't help but to laugh afterwards.

Tobi's face did look really old, and also like someone stated previously it does look like there's some short of strap leading to his left eye, I thought it was just his really straight eye brow, but I guess it could be like a strap to an eye patch. What in the hell made Sasuke activate his sharingan in one eye? that was awkward

I think I can see the eye patch as well lol danzou but it seems like it's the wrong eye, danzou's always had his patch on his right eye.

My money is still (and always had been) on Itachi being a good guy. There is just too much that doesn't make sense: Itachi planned the whole thing from the start, he wanted Sasuke to get stronger by hating him, there's no way he would have overestimated himself so much as to give Sasuke an advantage for no reason. Itachi also once said that as brothers they had to force each other to grow stronger, even if that meant hating each other. He was making Sasuke stronger, why would he do that if he was just planning to steal his eyes?

My theory (an old one) is that Itachi always wanted Sasuke to kill Madara and knew that he wasn't strong enough to do it himself. He hated the origins of the clan and what it stood for (it has recently been proven that the origins lie in betrayal which was my first ever theory posted over a year ago) and wanted to start again. Sasuke is the perfect person to do this, someone with enough potential to kill Madara and with the morals to start the new clan ethically. While Itachi loved Sasuke, he forced Sasuke to hate him, making him stronger for the sake of the clan and the sake of Sasuke. He knew that Sasuke would be eventually able to defeat Madara and he just needed the nudge in the right direction.

I think their fight was just an act on Itachi's behalf, we already knew he could hide his true feelings well and I think the whole maniac thing was just an act to force Sasuke to fight him properly. It was a test for Sasuke. This is why I think Itachi smiled at the end: Sasuke passed the test.

Just like Minato for Naruto, I think that Itachi has set Sasuke up for success and sacrificed his own life for him.

Anyway in line with the chapter, I thought it was interesting how Sasuke seemed so sad, same as when he defeated Itachi. It looks like Sasuke might have still loved Itachi.

There's still too many inconsistencies- itachi killed his best friend, the torture he put alot of ninjas through ie: Kakashi, even Sasuke through Tsukiyomi(does a good ninja do these things I think not). Surely there's a better way for Sasuke to defeat Madara than this deception for all these years.
