Naruto Manga chapter 397 discussion. - Page 7

In the end it looks to me like Itachi knew the only way to beat Madara was to be stronger than himself, which he knew wouldnt happen so he forced Sasuke to become stronger than him.

So many questions brought up by this chapter, although this makes me end up liking itachi even more, even though I wasnt really hoping for Sasuke to get another power boost.

But Sasuke isn't stronger then Itachi.

Last fight Itachi was half dead and he still barely won.

While I don't hate Itachi anymore this doesnt' change that Sasuke was essentially weaker then Itachi and had he been serious Sasuke would be dead.

i think that Itachi had two options.

a.) He take Sasukes eyes to gain EMS. So he could fight Madara as a equal opponent. If he would defeat Madara he would have save the Shinobi world.

b.) He pushed Sasuke to become very strong. If he isn´t able to gain EMS and is defeated by Sasuke there´s another person in the Narutoverse who´s a match for Uchiha Madara. So he hope that Sasuke will defeat Madara.

I can't wait to find out more about Itachi. There was always something extremely strange about him.

So this entire thing was all to protect not just Konoha, but the Shinobi world itself along with Sasuke?

I get the feeling that what Madara is building towards is he's going to eventually say something to that goes a little something like

"Konoha knew the truth about your brother all along"

That sounds so much like: Baby, I didn't want to cheat on you with that supermodel. but seriously, she taught be some great stuff, and while I hated myself and the time, I did it all so I could make you happier and be better for you. Really, it was all for you.

That kind of logic is seriously jacked up - and a sure sign of mental instability.

Konoha does have a shady past along with not telling truth about who naruto is. THey wouldn't even tell naruto about the fox inside him. That's why everybody hated naruto, Why not hide the truth about itachi also so that everyone hate itachi?

I would lol if it turns out that Tobi is lying. If Itachi did it for 100 chapters or so, Tobi can do it for one...

Honestly, I hope he was going for the eyes against Sasuke, wanting the power so he could defeat Madara, but gave up and changed plans when he realized he was losing. That way he would still be a little badass in the end...

Don't say it if you know nothing about what you're about to say. Hitler's plan was to put Germany back on top, after the complete industrial destruction it had during the war. He took over some time after the 1929 crisis and used the image of an enemy to drive the nationality and will to fight up.

Never did he mention anything about saving the world, just about wiping the "inferior races" to make it a "better place".

wow that was one pointless chapter... It was obvious that Itachi lost on purpose to save his brother wasn't it? Or was I the only one who got that... and for some reason I REALLY think that Tobi is infact Obito.... because in pg 3... it looks like his "headband" is leaning a little towards his left eye. And his face looks messed up like its been badly damaged or something... Just an observation...

I believe he could be Obito as well. I always thought his intangibility justu might correlate with being trapped under a boulder, but until kishi says otherwise. he's madara!

I can sorta see how Itachi maybe transferred the jutsu into the right eye, because that's where the blood from his fingers trailed into Sasukes eye (which is a huge gamble, but eh)... but I think Kishimoto deliberately dragged this chapter out for cliffhangeristic purposes.
