you know thinking back, this latest development sort of makes more sense then what itachi was leading on in the beginning.

"I kept you alive to test my limits" seems way to stupid imho. However he could have kept his brother alive simply because his bond with his brother was just deeper then his bond with konoha.

It may be cliche but it's not horribly off cue.

No its an actual question. I wasn't disputing the order of events. I've been trying to figure out the spacing between events for a while sometimes kishi only gives vague references to how long ago something took place, like "over 80 years ago".

To my knowledge it doesnt, but since kishimoto gave us 80 years in order to apply all the events from the founding till now, his timeline might be somewhat accurate.]}

What this means is, sarutobi could have been alive during this time.

i think it was sweet of him to 'sacrifice' himself for the sake of his brother. i can't really make judgements about his true motives because it seems there is still more explanations to be unraveled >.> (though some of the responses here seem to be plausible reasons)

there are a lot of things i am unsure about :/ looks like i'll have to keep waiting a couple more weeks.

This chapter, while good, puts me off on Naruto. Why is Sasuke believing Madara about the Uchiha clan massacre, and why did Madara assist Itachi then?

Those peculiar questions is the reason why some believe that madara is stretching the truth somewhat, in to manipulate sasuke into hating his former village, enough to want to destroy it by any means,(which would mean joining up with madara)

^ which is presicely the line of thought I'm having right now. Madara may be embelishing (or telling the full truth in all probobility) to sasuke, to recruit him into the Destroy Konoha scheme.

If Sasuke plays to madara's wishes then the series will end in a Sasuke vs Naruto scenario. If not, Sasuke and Naruto may end up allies against Madara.

^If anything- why would Sasuke help Madara? If he's pissed off that his clan was destroyed by the leaf village why would he help someone who supposedly helped Itachi kill his clan on that night?

Unless that was a lie from Itachi all along and he actually did kill the Uchiha clan on his own or with the assistance of Danzou and the 3rd and Madara was never involved at all.

But if Madara had something to do with the deaths of his mum, dad etc I can't see Sasuke helping Madara- I'd see Sasuke try to kill Madara but it would seem out of character that Sasuke'd team up with Madara with the mindset "kill the leaf for they killed the clan but I'll team up with the guy who also helped kill my clan".

Also thought I'd pose another question, doesn't Madara have enough firepower at this moment in time to destroy Konoha anyway. If him, Pein, Kisame and Zetsu attempted to take down the village I'm pretty sure they'd be able to win.

I think pain is enough to take down konoha by himself (with his bodies)

"Around 80 years ago" means it could of been 75-79 years ago or 81-100 years ago.

But, it's never a dead on 80 years. Or atleast, that's what i've learnt.

"Over 80 years ago" is pretty self explainetory. It means that it was 81+ years. I don't think the exact number of years or the exact dates matter, alls we need is a rough estimate to how many years ago it was. Just a rough guess that it was i don't know,lets say between 85-90 years ago.

Unlike the kyuubi attack which was "recorded in stone" at how many years ago it took place.

Kishi will really be starting to bring back some naruto magic back if he does that, because recently these chapters have been BORING AND SLOW! if this flashback stuff compares to bleachs in anyway itll be awesome

also btw the kyubi/sharingan thing is just obviously to show that the kyubi can be/was under madaras controll, but the 1st could supress kyubbi chakra so 1st just owns madara.

What i want to know is, how could itachi just accept such an order?
Did he actually hate his clan? Or was he the type of shinobi that danzou trains, ones who accept the mission over freinds and family, and personal feelings are thrown out the window(accept maybe for his brother) if thats true, i still dont think of itachi as a Moral human being.

Now i want to know why itachi gained the MS in the first place, was it to try and keep madara in check?

Honestly it may be even longer of a wait until we understand everything. based on this past chapter it seems we are going to see alot on madara and the 1st. I predict a flashback mini arc and then Madara will say how this all comes back to itachi

I think all Akatsuki are capable of it

the precedence certainly has been already set..

singlehandedly taking down entire nations i mean ie: Sasori.. hell, Deidei could destroy an entire nation if he wanted..
