Sage of Six Paths Discussion

Ok in the last chapter, #373 we were told from Jiraiya that there was another person before Nagato/Pein that possessed the Rinnegan. This person was named the Sage of the Six Paths. This thread is based solely on your theories on who he was, what he is, and when will he be introduced, if he is introdeuced.

I have a theory that he will be shown later on in the manga. Possibly this guy is the statue that Nagato/Pein was sitting on. We saw a shadowy outline of what this person looks like in the last chapter. If you all remember correctly the did the same thing with Madara, and pein before the were officially introduced, and now the are essential parts to the manga. He was also said to be the creator of all ninjutsu. How can this be?

Give me all your theories on the sage of the Six Paths!

Well according to jiriyia, this was the man who's skills led to the creation of ninjutsu.
He was probably the first human who learned about his chakra, and how to harness it into shinobi abilities.

Since he had the rinigan, and was supposedly the father of ninjustu....we can assume that the three great eye techniques originated from him..or he was the cause of their discovery(which could only be made through ninjutsu chakra manipulation)

Im leading more towards the idea that the sharingan and byakugan are mutations of the rinagin. The sage himself was probably a mutation, the first person born with the capability of realizing their chakra and using it.

A chakra mutation.(;Ie his dojutsu)

We still dont have all the information, such as was madara the offspring of an early hyuga, and a non hyuga?( an intermarrying could have created a mutation known as the sharingan) And it has been stated that the hyuga was the oldest clan in konoha.

So we really only have a few peices of the puzzle still.

Mutation can be done using a technique called Biokinesis where the user can create a new strain of DNA with special capacity like sharingan etc

Why does nagato have the rinnegan if the rinnegan was supposed to evolve to the sharingan and the byakugan.
Maybe he is direct descendent?

I don't want to discuss the biokinesis to not be of topic.
What i meant is that Kishi may not and to a great extent know about that biokinesis, how could he include it in the manga.
And also its just a manga, you shouldn't prove your point ising science, if that biokinesis was science in the first place

this is not relevant, trying to guess what kishimoto is thinking
discussion not based on science and logic? are you serious?
OK, in terms of theology, this sage is based on taoism / buddhism, not tengu belief
and the six path sage is sort of a term resembling such theologies
maybe we can talk based on these beliefs?

This is not logic its just unknown science. Talking about the tengue and legends in Japan are more plausible than science

there is no rule saying only one explaination is true
logic and science is used extensively in the story, much more than mythology alone

chakra is a combination of hindu mythology/theology with science (conservation law of energy)

i think without science and logic, it would be like talking about religion, and the endless cycle of religion bashing will go on.

Before ninja villages came, there must have be one mofo who said... hey... if u do this and this... this happened!

Since you haven't provided proof that that technique actually exists (and it sounds like a load of garbage)

Stop discussing it and using it as facts until you provide proof.

well does anyone else think that he look evil. i know you couldn't see his face but it looks like he is evil. it looks like he has a sword or weopon on his back. It also looks like he has either cat ears or demon horns. I have a fealing this guy is reallly powerful.

oh and what does the 6 paths mean in his name?

we cannot judge a book by its cover.
there are many good heroes who carry weapons and look scary.
and there are many bad dudes who look calm and educated.

6 path refers to the 6 realms in buddhism
I know about it because I read directly from the kanji
the english translation is distorted a bit
6 realm is buddhism perspective of the realm of heaven, human, ghost, hell, animal and asura.

I believe that is just a coincidence in numbers. Thr bodies, in my opinion, have nothing to do with the 6 paths philosophy.

Reading up on the link you provided, the six paths represent all the possibilities of good and evil in life.

His six bodies, could symbolize that by "what" and "who" they are...and their purpose(before he killed them)

For instance, all six could correlate or represent each realm:

1. The deva realm(Bliss and pride)
2.Asura realm(jealousy, combat, struggle)
3. Human realm(Passion, desire doubt)
4.Animal realm(Stupidity and prejudice)
5.Preta realm(Possesivness and desire)
6. Naraka realm(hatred)


Each body he has, could possibly represent these realms.
